Lockport Township High School District 205 proudly congratulates Arlene Fassola, a mathematics teacher at LTHS, on being selected for the University of Chicago’s 2026 Outstanding Educator Award!
The University of Chicago invites students admitted to its Class of 2030 to nominate an educator whose guidance has helped them along the path toward intellectual growth. Hundreds of students submitted nominations recognizing educators who have positively impacted their lives.
Arlene stood out among an exceptional group of educators recognized for their dedication and influence on students. This distinction highlights the important role teachers play in encouraging curiosity, fostering intellectual growth, and helping students reach their potential.
When asked what this recognition means to her, Mrs. Fassola shared:
"The award recognizes the significant work teachers produce every day. It acknowledges the patience, kindness, compassion, caring, and love that teachers bring to their classrooms day in and day out. For me, this award is especially edifying, in that there are still students that we educators are teaching who not only notice how we live out our vocation, but also want to celebrate it. I am extremely humbled and grateful for this recognition."
The University of Chicago will celebrate this year’s Outstanding Educator Award recipients during a virtual event on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 6 p.m. CST, featuring Dean of Admissions Jim Nondorf.
Congratulations to Arlene on this well-deserved honor and for making a meaningful difference in the lives of students!
