Parents Right to Know

As a parent/guardian of a student at a school receiving funds under Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, you have the right to know and request the professional qualifications of the teachers who instruct your child and the paraprofessionals, if any, who assist them.

Upon your written request, LTHS will provide to you in a timely manner, the following information about yourchild’s classroom teachers and their paraprofessional assistants, if any:

  • Whether the teacher has met state qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction;

  • Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which state qualification or licensing criteria have been waived;

  • Whether the teacher is teaching in the field of discipline in the teacher’s licensure; and

  • Whether any instructional aides or paraprofessionals provide services to your child and, if so, their qualifications.

If you would like the information identified above regarding a teacher or paraprofessional, please submit a letter in writing requesting the specific teacher/paraprofessional you are inquiring about and the specific information you are requesting. Please be sure to include your name, address, son/daughter’s name, and year in school on your request letter.

All requests should be submitted in writing to:
