What is Fresh Start?

LTHS offers a unique opportunity for students as they transition from 8th grade to high school. Fresh Start introduces incoming Freshman to the staff and their peers. They're able to make friends and learn valuable skills that will ease their anxiety and get them off to a successful start.

The Fresh Start program is divided into six sections:

  • STUDY SKILLS - A time for students to focus on a variety of skills including note-taking, test-taking, reading, and active listening.

  • PEER INTERACTION - This section is devoted to students making connections with other students in their class after a year apart due to the pandemic. This is facilitated by various activities to promote positive social connections and interactions.

  • REFLECTIONS - In Reflections students focus on learning about themselves as individuals and how they can use this information to be successful in both school and life.

  • CITIZENSHIP & CONNECTION - Students focus on different ways to connect to the high school and community around it. It will provide students a place to learn how to be good citizens both in-person and online.

  • RECREATION - Recreation focuses on two components: promoting positive student interactions and familiarizing students with their new school.

  • PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT - Students will learn various tools to lead a healthy lifestyle. It will contain tips on stress management, time management, healthy eating, and overall good habits.
