In 2017, Lockport Township High School earned recognition as one of the "Best High Schools" by the U. S. News and World Report Magazine, and was also identified as one of "America's Most Challenging High Schools" by the Washington Post. These awards recognize Lockport Township High School's dedication to providing a rigorous and challenging curriculum and commitment to ensuring that all students are college- and career-ready upon graduation. Lockport Township High School is a comprehensive high school providing students with a wide variety of academic, co-curricular, and extra-curricular experiences. Courses are offered within nine academic departments. Course levels include Advanced Placement, Honors, Advanced, General, and Special Education. Twenty-three Advanced Placement and seventeen Dual Credit courses allow students the ability to earn college credit while still in high school. All courses are aligned to the Illinois State Board of Education's approved New Illinois Learning Standards (NILS).
