2020 Summer Driver Education
The current social distancing requirements have significantly impacted the LTHS Driver Education Program. The administration and teaching staff have developed a plan for alternative instruction. Based on new guidelines from the Illinois State Board of Education, LTHS will hold summer Behind the Wheel instruction with the following changes to the program:
2 students per car with 1 instructor
Students drive 6 days, 2 hours per day, for 6 hours of driving time, and 6 hours of observation time (Student attendance is mandatory for all scheduled driving sessions.)
Session A - July 6-13
Session B - July 14-21
For the safety of the students and the instructors, the following measures will be in place:
Students and instructors must wear face coverings.
Cars will be sanitized before and after every use.
No eating or drinking will be allowed in the cars, and stops that are not directly applicable to the driver education program will be eliminated.
Whenever possible, car windows will be open.
Additional measures, such as taking temperatures prior to driving, may also be implemented.
Students that were previously enrolled in BTW will be contacted to reschedule due to the adjustments. Those who wish to opt-out of BTW can reschedule for the after school program in the fall or obtain a refund.
