    Course Description: This course provides students the opportunity to study the mythologies that have affected all of Western culture. From the ancient Greeks to modern superhero adventures, all story telling has its roots in mythology. Students will examine archetypal patterns and learn the importance and application of mythology found in all types of literature and media. Lectures, discussions and writing compose the major portion of classroom activity. This course will include research essays and various forms of written discourse and meets state of Illinois guidelines as a writing intensive course. There is a summer reading requirement for this course; the reading must be completed prior to the start of the school year.
