    Course Description: This course is designed for students who want to refine their writing skills in anticipation of college-level writing. Readings for the course will be used to generate both writing assignments and discussion topics. Students will employ the writing process—prewriting, drafting, revising, and editing—for major assignments. During the semester, students will write a variety of compositions, including expository, persuasive/argumentative, analytic and technical pieces. There is a summer reading requirement for this course; the reading must be completed prior to the start of the school year. This course meets the state of Illinois guidelines as a writing intensive course.
