Freshman Honors Survey of World Literature or Approval of English Chairperson
Course Description: This integrated course in American literature offers a continuing blend of acceleration and enrichment. The course focuses specifically on American literature. Students will write argumentative and expository essays as well as literary analyses. At least one research paper requiring MLA documentation will be required. There is a summer reading requirement for this course; the reading must be completed prior to the start of the school year. This course meets state of Illinois guidelines as a writing intensive course. The ultimate goal of the enrollees should be the completion of a four-year Honors English sequence culminating in AP Language and Composition and AP Literature and Composition.
