Course Description: This course develops a foundation of appropriate attitudes and skills needed by parents, childcare workers, and educators by developing knowledge of child growth and development. Students will gain the knowledge of child growth and development. Students will gain the competencies needed for successful employment in a variety of childcare situations at day care centers in the local community. These competencies include verbal and written communications and curriculum development for children in the areas of art, math, music, science and all areas of health, nutrition and safety. Philosophies, organizational patterns, and facilities of a variety of early childhood educational settings will be examined.
