Over a five-year planning process, District 205 has worked with community members, architects, the board of education,, and staff to develop a building program for a new high school which is both cost effective and provides an equitable education for all students. Also of consideration has been for the district to stay competitive with surrounding communities. What is District 205 Proposing to build an how much will it cost?
Can we build smaller?
The district has scaled back previous building plans. For instance, in the 2008 referendum there will be no greenhouse, less over-all square footage on the Cedar Road campus, and the plans to expand East Campus also were cut (East was going to be expanded to hold 3,000 students).Building costs continue to rise. This is a cost we have no control over. Each year that we have had to go back to the planning stage, we have found that the cost of building materials has risen.
