    Abby Foundation Academics Scholarship:  $1,000 scholarship for students attending a 4-year college or $500 scholarship for students attending a 2-year community college
    Criteria for applicant:

    1. Must be a female high school senior
    2. Have a minimum 3.0 GPA or higher
    3. Submit a 250 word essay; “Why this scholarship is important to me and what are my career goals?”
    4. Submit an official high school transcript

    Abby Foundation Female Athletes Program:
      $10,000 in scholarships
    Criteria for applicant:

    1. Must be a female high school senior who exhibits outstanding athletic qualities and academic excellence
    2. Submit a 250 word essay; “Why do I play sports?”
    3. Submit an official high school transcript

    American Italian Cultural Scholarship:
     $1,500 scholarship

    1. Graduating Senior must be nominated by a teacher
    2. Two recommedation letters from teachers
    3. Submit a personal essay stating future educational plans and career goals
    4. Submit an official high school transcript with ACT scores

    Amvets Scholarship:  Offering multiple scholarships including service foundation, ROTC, nursing and trade school.

    Criteria for applicant:

    1. For scholarship information and applications please access the Amvets web site at www.ilamvets.org or call (800) 638-8387
    2. The website has a list of all the scholarships offered, eligibility requirements, and all other pertinent information for each scholarship
    3. Each applicant should ensure that the application is completed and all supporting documentation required for the requested scholarship is submitted

    Canals & Trails Credit Union Scholarship:  $500 scholarships plus a credit union savings account with a $100 balance will be opened for all scholarship recipients

    Criteria for applicant:

    1. Must be a high school senior
    2. Maintain a G.P.A. average of a “B”
    3. Attend a 2-year or 4-year College, University or Trade School
    4. Write a two page, double-spaced essay regarding the advantages of Credit Union membership versus a bank and how they can better utilize their Credit Union now as they plan to enter college

    DLA Achitects, Ltd. Architectural Scholarship:  $500 scholarship
    Criteria for applicant:

    1. A high school senior entering a college or university accredited Architectural program
    2. Submit project(s) or portfolio which demonstrate the student's ability to understand and recognize the basic principles of architecture
    3. Submission of an essay in which the student describes their interaction with the architectural space identified on the application
    4. Submission of the application along with a photo headshot of the applicant

    Fred R. Linder Law Enforcement College Scholarship:  $500 scholarship
    Criteria for applicant:

    1. Submit a resume with the following information: work experience (jobs with or without pay), school experiences (athletics, clubs, etc.), out-of-school activities (church, scouts, etc.), awards, hobbies and special interests
    2. Submit two letters of recommendation by two different people, such as a teacher, counselor, employer, clergy member, etc.
    3. Submit a short essay, 250 words, describing yourself and why you have chosen a career in law enforcement. 
    4. Submit an official high school transcript. These transcripts should be from your last seven semesters.  When submitting these transcripts, please keep them in the sealed school envelope.

    Global Citizen Award Application: 
    Criteria for applicant:

    1. Must have successfully completed four years of high school level foreign language, (ASL, ESL, French, German, Japanese or Spanish) This could include either four years of one language with one year of a different language or five years of the same language. ESL students only need four years of high school foreign language, ESL included.
    2. Must have maintained a Foreign Language GPA of 3.5 and an overall GPA of 3.0
    3. Must be an active member of one of the following Foreign Language/Global Citizen-based clubs for one full year (International Club, Interact Club, Language Honor Society, or Sign Language Club).


    Applicationsare to be turned in to your Foreign Language teacher.

    Holly Club Scholarship:  Three $500 scholarships
    Criteria for applicant:

    1. Academic/Work Resume
    2. Submit a 250 word essay describing how your volunteer service has impacted your life as well as benefited those directly related to your volunteer service.
    3. Submit 2 letters of recommendation-Inform each adult writing on your behalf NOT TO INCLUDE YOUR NAME on the recommendation.

    Homer Township Chamber of Commerce Scholarship:  One $1,000 scholarship
    Criteria for applicant:

    1. Any graduating high school student who resides in Homer Township or whose parent or guardian is a Homer Township Chamber member
    2. Submit a 500 word double spaced typed essay on “How are small businesses surviving in an environment of mega chain stores such as Wal-Mart?”

    JJC Foundation - Dr. John & Melanie Peterson Academic Scholarship:  This scholarship is for a female Lockport High School athlete, who participates in athletics at Joliet Junior College.  The scholarship is for two consecutive years (four semesters).  The student must attend JJC immediately upon graduating from Lockport.
    Criteria for applicant:

    1. Award amount is determined annually
    2. Award goes to a female Lockport High School athlete
    3. Apply online at www.jjc.edu/info/scholarships
    4. Selection will be made by Joliet Junior College Athletic Department

    JJC Foundation Scholarship: 
    Criteria for applicant:

    1. G.P.A. of 3.25 or above high school G.P.A. (on a 4.0 scale)
    2. ACT of 21 or above
    3. Provide a high school transcript and counselor form
    4. Student mus attend JJC at least two of the three semestes of the academic year.

    The deadline to apply online is March 1, 2012.



    Kevin Benes Memorial Scholarship: $1,500 scholarship
    Criteria for applicant:

      1. LTHS graduating senior
      2. Has shown strength and determination to overcome a tragic event, personal challenge or hardship
      3. Has participated in high school clubs and/or sports programs
      4. Demonstrate good decision making skills
      5. Be in good academic standing with a 3.0 min GPA.


      The deadline to apply is March 2, 2012.



      Kevin Killmer Memorial Scholarship “Spirit Award”
      :  $1,000 scholarship
      Criteria for applicant:

      1. Must participate in two or more sports for all four years
      2. Be a participant or a spectator in other extra-curricular activities and sports
      3. Have a GPA of 2.6 or higher
      4. Submit a 250 word essay on “What will a higher education mean to me?”
      5. Submit two letters of recommendation
      6. Limited to students who will not be receiving full academic or athletic scholarships

      Lockport Chamber of Commerce Dick Dystrup College Scholarship: 
      $500 scholarship
      Criteria for applicant:
      1. Submit two letters of recommendation by school administrator, teacher or guidance counselor
      2. Personal essay (1 page Personal Statement on Why Applicant Should Receive Scholarship)
      3. Student Profile
      4. Completed Application
      5. Applicant must reside in District 205

      Lockport Lions Club Richard C. Dystrup Scholarship:  Two $1,000 scholarships
      Criteria for applicant:

      1. Primary criteria used to select the recipient will include scholarship; letters of recommendation; written expression; interest in a medical field with weight toward blind and hearing impaired.  After school employment and extracurricular activities will be considered as school and community activities.
      2. Must be seniors who are residents of the city of Lockport
      3. Reference forms to be given to two persons, one to be a personal reference and the other to someone familiar with your academic ability.  Type or print your name on the top of each reference form.  Indicate the name and address of the reference writers on page one of the application.  Only two references will be accepted
      4. Enclose an essay about why you are interested in a medical career.  Type or print this essay on 8 ½ X 11 white paper using black ink.
      5. Submit an official high school transcript

        Lockport Rotary Scholarship:
        $1,000 scholarship
        Criteria for applicant:

        1. Submit an essay explaining the circumstances for any special financial need
        2. Submit two letters of recommendation from adults
        3. Submit an official high school transcript
        4. Submit an essay that answers the question; "How will furthering your education assist you in serving others in the future?"
        5. Provide resume information, which includes school experience, out of school activities, recognitions and awards

        Lockport Township Government Scholarship: Up to four $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students with a 2.5 G.P.A. or higher who are currently seniors and residents of Lockport Township.
        Criteria for applicant:

        1. A resume describing your work experience (jobs, with or without pay), school experience (clubs, programs, athletics, etc.), out of school activities (church, lessons, etc.), recognition and awards (national, state, local and school), hobbies and special interests
        2. Written essay, one page, typed that answers the question “What does a college education mean to me?”
        3. Include two (2) letters of recommendation from two different people.  For example: submit a letter from a teacher, counselor, principal, employer, and community leader or clergy member.
        4. Submit a copy of current transcript from Lockport Township High School.


      Finalists may be requested to appear for a personal interview with the scholarship committee before final selection of scholarship awards.
      The winners will be asked to attend a Lockport Township Government Meeting and have their picture taken for the township newsletter.

      Lockport Township High School Foundation Arbor Management, Inc. Scholarship:  $500 scholarship
      Criteria for applicant:

       
        1. Rank in the upper 25 percent of Lockport Township High School’s Class of 2012
        2. Attendance at a two-year or four-year college/university or a trade or technical school
        3. Two letters of recommendation, one from a faculty member and one from a community leader
        4. A short essay (250 words) describing yourself, your goals for the future, and how you arrived at this point in your life
        5. A current copy of your family’s complete federal income tax return (i.e., Form 1040, Form 1040A, or Form 1040 EZ)  Failure to submit all income tax returns from both parents/guardians is cause for disqualification unless disclosed by applicant with an appropriate explanation.

      Lockport Township High School Foundation Connor Peter Sullivan Memorial Scholarship:  $500 scholarship
      Criteria for applicant:

       
        1. Must be a graduating LTHS high school senior who is interested in pursuing a career in education.
        2. Recipients will be of good academic standing
        3. Should be a participant in co-curricular and/or community activities
        4. Sumit a three-five page essay either explaining why they are interested in education or expressing that teachers are role models and explaining who is their role model and why. Must be typewritten.

      Lockport Township High School Foundation Dick Dystrup "Be Positive" Girls Basketball Scholarship:  $1,000 scholarship
      Criteria for applicant:

      1. Must be a graduating LTHS senior member of the LTHS Girls' Basketball Team who will be going on to college to play basketball.
      2. Have a minimum G.P.A. of 2.75
      3. Member of the LTHS Girls' Basketball Team for three to four years.
      4. Is a positive role model and demonstrates leadership.

      Lockport Township High School Foundation Endwood Scholarship: 
      One $1,000 scholarship and three $500 scholarships
      Criteria for applicant:

       
        1. Preference given to students pursuing studies in Engineering, Physical Science, or Mathematics
        2. Demonstrate a need for financial assistance
        3. Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
        4. Demonstrate positive leadership qualities both in and out of the classroom
        5. Submit a 250 word essay describing yourself, your goals for the future and how you arrived at this point in your life.  Submit this essay in your own handwriting.
        6. Submit a resume and official transcript

      Lockport Township High School Foundation Francis H. Gerrity Scholarship:  $750 scholarship
      Criteria for applicant:

       
        1. Must be a graduating LTHS senior who is pursuing a career in education enrolling in a college or university
        2. Must be a graduate of Lockport School District 91 (Milne Grove/Kelvin Grove)
        3. Submit a letter of recommendation from an individual outside of Lockport Township High School District 205
        4. Submit an essay of 500 words of less on how a particular teacher influenced your decision to become an educator

      Criteria for applicant:

      1. Rank in the upper 25 percent of Lockport Township High School's Class of 2011
      2. Attendance at a two-year or four-year college/univeristy or a trade or technical school
      3. Submit two letters of recommendation one from a faculty member and one from a community leader.
      4. Submit an essay of 250 words describing yourself, your goals for the future and how you arrived at this point in your life.
      5. A current copy of your family's complete federal income tax return (i.e., Form 1040, Form 1040A or Form 1040EZ) Failure to sumbit all imcome tax returns from both parents/guardians is cause for disqualification unless disclosed by applicant with an appropriate explanation.

      Lockport Township High School Foundation Karen Bell DoehringScholarship
      : $250 scholarship
      Criteria for applicant:

        1. GPA of 3.0 or above in Family and Consumer Science courses, and a GPA of 2.5 or above academic average while in high school
        2. Submit a 250 word essay describing yourself, your goals for the future, and how you arrived at this point in your life
        3. Submit two letters of recommendation
        4. Applicant must have completed two or more courses in Family and Consumer Sciences at the high school level
        5. Applicant must be planning to enroll in an institution of learning for the purpose of pursuing higher education in a Family and Consumer Science

        Lockport Township High School Foundation Lewis University Scholarship:
        $500 scholarship
        Criteria for applicant:

          1. Rank in the upper 25 percent of your class
          2. Enrollment at a two-year or four-year college/university or a trade or techinical school
          3. Submit two letters of recommendation, one from a faculty member and one from a community leader
          4. Submit a 250 word essay describing yourself, your goals for the future, and how you arrived at this point in your life

        Lockport Township High School Foundation Diane Meader Schenk Commemorative Scholarship:  $1,500 scholarship
        Criteria for applicant:

          1. Must be a graduating LTHS high school senior
          2. Must be an active member of the LTHS Marching Band and obtain the written endorsement of the Marching Band Director
          3. Sumit an essay, 250 words or less; "Why music is important to me and what are my goals in furthering interest in the LTHS Marching Band to those about to enter High School next year."

        Lockport Township High School Foundation Michelle Ivanich Memorial Scholarship:  $1,000 scholarship
        Criteria for applicant:

         
          1. Submit an essay (typed, double spaced, 500-word maximum length) answering the following question: “What are your education goals, and how would this scholarship assist you in achieving these goals?”
          2. Submit two letters of recommendation; one should be from a LTHS faculty member
          3. Submit a resume with the following information: Work experience (jobs with or without pay), School experiences (athletics, clubs, etc.), Out-of-school activities (church, scouts, etc.), Awards you have received, Hobbies and special interests
          4. The following criteria will be used as part of the selection process: Good academic standing with a GPA of 2.75 or higher.
          5. Demonstration of positive role modeling in all areas of the applicant's life
          6. Demonstration of servant leadership

        Lockport Township High School Foundation Mildred K. Shoop Scholarship:  $500 scholarship
        Criteria for applicant:

          1. Submit a resume and two letters of recommendation
          2. Submit a 250 word essay describing yourself, your goals for the future, and how you arrived at this point in your life.  Submit this essay in your own handwriting.
          3. Demonstrate the need for financial aid

        Lockport Township High School Foundation Nicholas A. Morice Award:  $2,000 scholarship
        Criteria for applicant:

          1. The nominating letter must include the complete name, address, and phone of the nominee and nominator
          2. The nominating letter must include the sport/school activities that the nominee participated in
          3. The nominating letter must also include additional home, church, and community involvement
          4. Include a maximum of two pages describing acts of service performed by the nominee to improve or enhance the quality of life for a child or group of children either locally or in the community at large

        Lockport Township High School Foundation Profit Systems, Inc. Scholarship:  $500 scholarship - Emphasis will be placed on selecting a student who is able to demonstrate financial need.
        Criteria for applicant:

          1. Class rank in the upper 25% of your class
          2. Attendance at a two-year or four-year college/university or a trade or technical school
          3. Two letters of recommendation, one from a faculty member and one from a community leader
          4. A short essay (250 words) describing yourself, your goals for the future, and how you arrived at this point in your life
          5. A current copy of your family's complete federal income tax return (i.e., Form 1040, Form 1040A or Form 1040EZ) Failure to sumbit all imcome tax returns from both parents/guardians is cause for disqualification unless disclosed by applicant with an appropriate explanation.

        Lockport Township High School Foundation Scholarship:  $2,500 scholarship - Eight scholarships will be given
        Criteria for applicant:

          1. Class rank in the upper 25% of your class
          2. Enrollment at an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university
          3. Submit two letters of recommendation; one from a faculty member, and one from a community leader
          4. Submit a 250 word essay describing yourself, your goals for the future, and how you arrived at this point in your life
          5. A current copy of your family’s complete federal income tax return (i.e., Form 1040, Form 1040A, or Form 1040 EZ)  Failure to submit all income tax returns from both parents/guardians is cause for disqualification unless disclosed by applicant with an appropriate explanation

        Lockport Woman's Club/Four Year College or University Scholarship:
        $2000.00 Scholarship 
        Criteria for applicant:

          1. Resume Describing School Experience (clubs, programs, athletics, etc.), Out-of-School Activities (church, lessons, scouts, etc.), Volunteer Activities, Work Experience (with or without pay), Recognitions and Awards, Hobbies and Special Interests
          2. Two letters of recommendation from adults (teachers, employers, pastors, volunteer supervisors, club sponsors, coaches, etc., but not relatives), who can attest to your worthiness to receive this scholarship.  Be sure to give these individuals plenty of time to write their letters for you and ask them to tell us what sets you apart from your peers.  It is your responsibility to ensure that your name is not used in these letters.
          3. A copy of your student transcript
          A 300-word maximum essay describing yourself, how you came to this point in your life, your future goals and how you will meet them.  We want to learn more about you than your resume tells.  Do not narrate your resume.  Be sure your student identification number and/or the last four digits of your Social Security Number are on each page of your essay.  Including your name on application documents will result in disqualification.

        Lockport Woman's Club/Two Year College/Technical/Trade School Scholarship:
        $1000.00 Scholarship 
        Criteria for applicant:

          1. Resume Describing School Experience (clubs, programs, athletics, etc.), Out-of-School Activities (church, lessons, scouts, etc.), Volunteer Activities, Work Experience (with or without pay), Recognitions and Awards, Hobbies and Special Interests
          2. Two letters of recommendation from adults (teachers, employers, pastors, volunteer supervisors, club sponsors, coaches, etc., but not relatives), who can attest to your worthiness to receive this scholarship.  Be sure to give these individuals plenty of time to write their letters for you, and ask them to tell us what sets you apart from your peers.  It is your responsibility to ensure that your name is not used in these letters.

        NAACP Scholarship:  Awards up to $1000.00 to a graduating African American Senior planning to attend a college or university. 
        Criteria for applicant:

         
          1. Submit a 150-200 word essay explaining why you need financial assistance and how this scholarship will meet your educational needs/goals.
          2. Write a professional statement of your life's ambition, what you hope to accomplish or achieve in your lifetime, and what position you hope to attain.
          3. Provide a student resume which includes activities or involvement in and out of school
          4. Submit two letters of recommendation
          5. One 3 X 5 picture
          6. Submit an official high school transcript, documenting student's G.P.A. of 2.5 or higher

        National Hook-Up of Black Women, Inc. (Joliet Chapter) Dollars for Scholars Program: 
        Criteria for applicant:

          1. The applicant must be a college bound high school senior.
          2. The applicant will be attending college for the first time in the fall of 2012.
          3. The applicant will be enrolled in either a two or four year accredited college
          4. Submit two letters of recommendation; one from a faculty member, and one from a community leader
          5. Submit an official high school transcript, documenting student's GPA of 3.0 or higher
          6. One 3 X 5 picture
          7. Submit a typed 400-500 word essay

        NFP Extra Effort Scholarship: $500.00 Scholarship 
        Criteria for applicant:

          1. Must be graduating LTHS senior and a member of the LTHS Football Team for all 4 years.
          2. Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 (transcript required).
          3. Must attend a 2 year or 4 year college or university after high school.
          4. Must submit 1 letter of recommendation (either personal or academic)
          5. Must submit a 500 word essay describing "What playing football for LTHS has meant to you and what life lessons has it taught you." (essay can either be handwritten or typed).

        PDK Prospective Educator Scholarship:
        Criteria for applicant:

        1.  High school senior who intends to attend college and major in education
        2. Goals Statement:  share your vision as to what it means to you to be a teacher and how you see yourself accomplishing this goal (about 100 words or less)
        3.  Reference Letter: submit one letter of recommendation.  The letter must be from a person familiar with your academic abilities and school activities, and should address your interest in teaching and the qualities that will make you a successful educator
        4. Transcript:  submit a copy of your high school transcript, including class size, class rank and grade point average

        Thomas J. Lambrecht Scholarship
        :
        Scholarships ranging from $2,500-$10,000 
        Criteria for applicant:

          1. Only seniors in the upper 33% of their class
          2. Submit a resume
          3. Submit a one page, 300 word, This should be a narrative about yourself, how you have arrived at this point in your life and how you think your chosen career path will positively impact your community and those around you in the future.
          4. Submit two letters of recommendation from adults (teachers, employers, pastors, club sponsors, coachers, etc…) who can attest to your worthiness to receive this scholarship
          5. Attach family tax records from the most recent year, combined income greater than $80,000 are NOT eligible.  However, special considerations are addressed.
          6. Submit an official high school transcript.

        Zonta Scholarship: Young Women in Public Affairs:
           $1,000 scholarship and $500 scholarship
        Criteria for applicant:

        1. Must be a female of age 16-19 living or studying in a Zonta district/region
        2. Active commitment to volunteerism
        3. Volunteer leadership achievements
        4. Knowledge of Zonta International and its program
