Community Service

Beginning with the Class of 2014 and thereafter, Lockport Township High School District 205 students shall complete no less than 40 hours of community service in order to graduate. Students enrolled prior to the start of the 2010-2011 school year are required to complete 10 hours of community service for each year of enrollment beginning with the 2010-2011 school year. Students transferring into the district shall complete 5 hours of community service per full semester of enrollment within Lockport Township High School District 205. It is recommended that students complete 10 hours per year of enrollment.

Class of 2011 – 10 hours Class of 2012 – 20 hours Class of 2013 – 30 hours Class of 2014 – 40 hours

Enclosed you will find an application for PSAT 240, a test preparation program for junior students interested in taking the PSAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test). The PSAT/NMSQT recognizes students who score in the top 5% of the nation. Top academically achieving juniors, (usually in the top 15% as indicated by a G.P.A. of 3.5 or better), will want to take this test which will be administered on Saturday, October 16, 2010.

This will be the eleventh year that the PSAT 240 test preparation program will be available to our Lockport High School students from ExcelEdge, Inc. If you would like to enroll your child in the PSAT 240 class, you must return the enclosed registration materials to the Guidance Office at East Campus no later than August 13, 2010. If you have specific questions regarding the PSAT 240 class, please contact Carol or David Talabay at ExcelEdge, Inc. at 219/838-0740.
